Taxonomy
Liadothemis insignis was named by Zessin (1982). Its type specimen is LD859-860, a forewing (Basal fragment), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Zessin collection), which is in a Toarcian marine claystone in Germany.
