Scacchia was named by Philippi (1844) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 914]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); to Erycinidae by Wienrich (1999), Marquet (2005); to Lasaeidae by Moths et al. (2010); and to Scacchiidae by Bouchet et al. (2010).
