It was synonymized subjectively with Panorpidium by Carpenter (1992).
It was assigned to Oedischiidae by Sharov (1968); to Elcaninae by Gorochov (1995); to Elcanidae by Handlirsch (1906), Zessin (1987) and Ansorge (1996); and to Archelcaninae by Gorochov et al. (2006), Tian et al. (2019), Heads et al. (2022) and Gorochov and Coram (2022).
