Taxonomy
Lonsdaleiastraea iranica was named by Ezaki (1991). Its type specimen is OCU 6259 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kuh-e Hambast, Surmaq unit 3, Abadeh, which is in a Wordian shallow subtidal dolomite in the Surmaq Formation of Iran.
