Taxonomy
Pongo pygmaeus ciochoni was named by Schwartz et al. (1995). Its type specimen is IAH LT93.C2. B5.28, a tooth (/M3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lang Trang Cave, which is in a Pleistocene cave breccia in Vietnam.
