Tetrameropsis was named by Kirejtshuk and Azar (2008). Its type is Tetrameropsis mesozoica. It is the type genus of Tetrameropsinae.
It was assigned to Tetrameropsinae by Kirejtshuk and Azar (2008); and to Tetrameropseidae by Shockley and Alekseev (2014).
