Polythecalis biformis was named by Fontaine (1961) [As Polythecalis khmerianus var. biformis
As Polythecalis khmerianus var. biformis]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Phnom Takream, scree 15 m above plain, Battambang, which is in a Wordian marine limestone in the Sisophon Formation of Cambodia.
It was recombined as Multimurinus biformis by Flügel (1997).
