Taxonomy
Zaphrentites ningxiangensis was named by Xu (1977). Its type specimen is IV 38526 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Meitanba, Maokou Fm, Ningxiang County, which is in a Roadian/Capitanian carbonate limestone in the Maokou Formation of China.
