Requienia was named by Matheron (1842) [Sepkoski's age data: K Vala K Camp Sepkoski's reference number: 914]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Diceratidae by Palmer (1928); to Hippuritoida by Sepkoski (2002); to Requieniidae by Steuber (2002), Bouchet et al. (2010); and to Requieniinae by Skelton (2013).
