Taxonomy
Curculionites epistictus was named by Cockerell and Wagner (1936). Its type specimen is AMNH 24510, an elytra, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Station 2; Sunchal, which is in a Paleocene lacustrine - small mudstone/limestone in the Margas Verdes Formation of Argentina.
