Taxonomy
Megarhyphus rarus was named by Zhang (2007). Its type specimen is DHG200390, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Daohugou (NIGP 2003 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
