Taxonomy
Khoratpithecus ayeyarwadyensis was named by Jaeger et al. (2011). Its type specimen is MFI-K171, a mandible (left hemi-mandible with P3-M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Khoratpithecus ayeyarwadyensis Site, which is in a Tortonian terrestrial sandstone in the Irrawaddy Formation of Myanmar.
