Taxonomy
Dromeus obtusus was named by Sellards (1907). It is an impression. Its type locality is Elmo, Sellards collection, which is in an Artinskian pond limestone in the Wellington Formation of Kansas. It is the type species of Misthodotes, Dromeus.
It was recombined as Misthodotes obtusus by Handlirsch (1922), Tillyard (1932), Carpenter (1933), Carpenter (1939), Carpenter (1979).
