Taxonomy
Misthodotes biguttatus was named by Tillyard (1932). Its type specimen is YPM 1122, a hindwing (imago), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Elmo, YPM 1921 collection, which is in an Artinskian pond limestone in the Wellington Formation of Kansas.
