Triassomantidae was named by Tillyard (1922). It is not extant. Its type is Triassomantis.

It was corrected as Triassomanteidae by Sharov (1968) and Carpenter (1992).

It was assigned to Orthoptera by Tillyard (1922); to Mantodea by Tillyard (1923); to Oedischiidea by Sharov (1968) and Whalley (1985); and to Ensifera by Carpenter (1992).
