Bellerophon branneri was named by Weller (1897). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Patellostium branneri by Girty (1915), Yochelson and Saunders (1967); it was recombined as Knightites (Cymatospira) branneri by Thein and Nitecki (1974).
