Taxonomy
Veriplecia handlirschi was named by Blagoderov (1999). Its type specimen is BMNH In 44962, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Mount Crosby Insect Bed (Tillyard BMNH collection), which is in a Norian lacustrine - small shale in the Mount Crosby Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Veriplecia.
