Taxonomy
Protomyrmeleon kazakhstanensis was named by Nel et al. (2005). Its type specimen is PIN 2784/70-71, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2784), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
