Taxonomy
Copris leakeyorum was named by Paulian (1976). Its type specimen is KNMI-RU 50, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rusinga Island R107, which is in a Burdigalian dry floodplain horizon in the Hiwegi Formation of Kenya.
