Proschistocerca was named by Zeuner (1937). It is not extant. Its type is Proschistocerca oligocaenica.

It was assigned to Tetrigidae by Zeuner (1937); to Cyrtacanthacridini by Zeuner (1941); and to Acrididae by Gorochov (2019).
