Paokannia was named by Ho and Lee (1959) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-u Sepkoski's reference number: 463,885]. It is not extant. Its type is Paokannia chinensis.
It was assigned to Redlichiida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Yinitidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
