Taxonomy
Agrion (Lestes) peisinoe was named by Heer (1849). It is an impression. Its type locality is Oeningen (unspecified collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Lestes peisinoe by Hagen (1850), Kirby (1890), Nel and Paicheler (1994).
