Epiaeschna was named by Hagen (1875). It is extant.

It was assigned to Brachytronini by Nel et al. (1994); and to Aeshnidae by Carpenter (1992), Nel and Petrulevičius (2010).

Triaeschna was named by Campion (1916). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Epiaeschna by Nel and Petrulevičius (2010).

It was assigned to Aeschninae by Campion (1916); to Aeshnidae by Carpenter (1992); and to Brachytronini by Nel et al. (1994).
Epacantha was named by Martynov (1929).

It was synonymized subjectively with Epiaeschna by Nel and Petrulevičius (2010).

It was assigned to Aeschnidiidae by Martynov (1929); to Aeshnidae by Carpenter (1992); and to Gynacanthini by Nel et al. (1994).
Mediaeschna was named by Zhang (1989). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Epiaeschna by Nel and Petrulevičius (2010).

It was assigned to Aeshnidae by Zhang (1989), Zhang et al. (1994).
