Panorpidium tessellatum

Taxonomy
Panorpidium tessellatum was named by Westwood (1854). Its type specimen is NHM I.3982/I.12262, a tegmen, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Middle Purbeck, Swanage (Brodie collection), which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Durlston Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Elcana tessellata by Giebel (1856), Handlirsch (1906); it was recombined as Elcana tesselata by Zessin (1987).
