Wenkchemnia was named by Rasseti (1951) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tojo-u Cm mMid-u Sepkoski's reference number: 80]. It is not extant. Its type is Wenkchemnia walcotti.
It was synonymized subjectively with Bathyuriscus by Jell and Adrain (2002).
It was assigned to Dolichometopidae by Sundberg (1994); to Corynexochida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dolichometopidae by Sundberg and McCollum (2003).
