Taxonomy
Gryllacris ungeri was named by Heer (1849). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Radoboj (Unger Collection), which is in a Sarmatian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in Croatia.
It was recombined as Macrelcana ungeri by Karny (1932) and Zeuner (1939).
