Taxonomy
Odontopleura was named by Emmrich (1839) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-u S Ludl-l Sepkoski's reference number: 795]. It is not extant. Its type is Odontopleura ovata. It is the type genus of Odontopleurinae.

It was assigned to Odontopleurinae by Bruton (1967), Ramsköld and Chatterton (1991), Adrain and Ramskold (1997); and to Odontopleurida by Sepkoski (2002).
