Catillicephala was named by Raymond (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm uMid-u Cm Dres-l Sepkoski's reference number: 16,80]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Catillicephalidae by Harrington et al. (1959), Jell and Adrain (2002).
