Ceronocare was named by Shergold (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran-u Sepkoski's reference number: 16]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Ceronocarinae.
It was assigned to Kaolishaniidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ceronocarinae by Wernette et al. (2020).
