Taxonomy
Debeerius ellefseni was named by Grogan and Lund (2000). Its type specimen is ROM 43173, a skeleton, and it is a compression preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Bear Gulch (Carnegie Museum Collection), which is in an Arnsbergian open shallow subtidal limestone in the Heath Formation of Montana. It is the type species of Debeerius.
