Taxonomy
Vilviopsis extensa was named by Martynov (1938). Its type specimen is PIN 117/498, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Sheimo-Gora (PIN collection 117), which is in a Roadian lagoonal siliciclastic in the Iva-Gora Beds Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Vilviopsis.
