Proedischia was named by Pinto and de Ornellas (1978). It is not extant. Its type is Proedischia mezzalirai. It is the type genus of Proedischiidae.
It was assigned to Ensifera by Gorochov (1995); and to Proedischiidae by Pinto and de Ornellas (1978), Martins-Neto et al. (2007).
