Taxonomy
Jarveia minuscula was named by Nessov (1987). Its type specimen is CCMGE 13/12455, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zhylga 1a, which is in a Paleocene marine sandstone in Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Jarveia.
