Taxonomy
Worthenia extendia was named by Tong and Erwin (2001). Its type specimen is USNM 485505 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Guojiashan Section, Bed 20, which is in an Anisian carbonate limestone in the Guojiashan Formation of China.
