Taxonomy
Aeschna metis was named by Heer (1849). It is an impression. Its type locality is Radoboj (unspecified or Heer coll), which is in a Sarmatian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in Croatia.
It was recombined as Anax metis by Hagen (1850), Kirby (1890), Pongrácz (1928); it was recombined as Oplonaeschna metis by Wighton and Wilson (1986), Nel et al. (1994).
