Taxonomy
Eoplaneta desforesti was named by Piton and Théobald (1937). Its type specimen is Coll. Des Forest 2, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Menat (Des Forest collection), which is in a Selandian crater lake diatomite in the Menat Formation of France. It is the type species of Eoplaneta.
