Taxonomy
Milesia was named by Latreille (1804). It is extant. It is the type genus of Milesiini, Milesiina.

It was assigned to Syrphidae by Scudder (1878), Scudder (1890); to Milesini by Hull (1949); and to Milesiina by Mengual et al. (2015).
