Marjumia was named by Walcott (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm uMid-l Sepkoski's reference number: 492]. Its type is Owenella typa.

It was assigned to Olenidae by Walcott (1916); to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Marjumiidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
