Taxonomy
Tipula nevadensis was named by Byers (2011). Its type specimen is Unnumbered CAS specimen, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Stewart Valley, Pacific Union Site (BLM 26-30-09), which is in a Barstovian lacustrine - large mudstone in Nevada.
