Taxonomy
Proasaphiscus was named by Resser and Endo (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tojo-l Cm uMid Sepkoski's reference number: 464,474]. It is not extant. Its type is Proasaphiscus yabei.

It was assigned to Proasaphiscidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
