Taxonomy
Palloptera morticina was named by Scudder (1877). Its type specimen is GSC 20, a wing (fragment of a wing), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Quesnel, which is in a Priabonian lacustrine shale in the Australian Creek Formation of Canada.
