Dicerca was named by Eschscholtz (1829). It is extant. It is the type genus of Dicercina, Dicercaeidae.
It was assigned to Dicercaeidae by Hörnschemeyer and Wedmann (1994); and to Dicercina by Bellamy (2008), Bouchard et al. (2011).
