Taxonomy
Eoptychoptera longifurcata was named by Lukashevich et al. (2001). Its type specimen is MNEMG 1998.18, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Bed DB66, Soft Cockle Beds, Swanage, which is in a Berriasian lagoonal siliciclastic in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.
