Yuknessaspis was named by Rasetti (1951) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm mMid-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1089]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ptychopariina by Sundberg (1994); to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ptychopariidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
