Taxonomy
Celmus was named by Angelin (1854) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Celmus granulatus. It is the type genus of Celmidae.

It was assigned to Dimeropygidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); to Celminae by Bergström and Suzuki (2005); and to Raymondinidae by Adrain and Westrop (2007).
