Taxonomy
Elytrathrix hirsuta was named by Kukalová (1966). Its type specimen is BMNH In.45503, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Belmont (BMNH collection), which is in a Changhsingian pond chert in the Croudace Bay Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Elytrathrix.
