Corydalus was named by Latreille (1802). It is extant. It is the type genus of Corydalidae, Corydalinae.
It was assigned to Megaloptera by Latreille (1802); to Corydalidae by Carpenter (1932) and Carpenter (1992); and to Corydalinae by Martins et al. (2022).
