Taxonomy
Juraconiopteryx zherichini was named by Meinander (1975). Its type specimen is PIN 2384/1300, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2384), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
