Prosolierius was named by Thayer et al. (2012). Its type is Prosolierius crassicornis.

It was assigned to Solieriinae by Thayer et al. (2012), Peris et al. (2014), Chatzimanolis (2018), Yamamoto (2023), Yamamoto (2025), Liu et al. (2025).
