Taxonomy
Baissatermes lapideus was named by Engel et al. (2007). Its type specimen is PIN 3064/8583, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Baissa (PIN collection 3064), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large marl in the Zaza Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Baissatermes.
